NFL Fans In Tennessee And Florida
With more than three weeks remaining before the start of NFL training camps, fans in Alabama are in good shape for the 2015 season. NFL fans in Tennessee and Florida, though, are making changes to be ready for kickoff.
According to Dick’s Sporting Goods map of the best-selling NFL jerseys in each state during the 2014 NFL season, New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees was the most popular player in Alabama, as well as Louisiana, Mississippi and Arkansas. Brees will be back under center for the Saints for the 10th season in 2015.
According to Dick’s “official ranking of the best-selling jerseys nationwide,” the top jersey in Tennessee belonged to quarterback Jake Locker during the 2014 season. After another injury-interrupted season, Locker won’t be back with the Tennessee Titans in 2015. The No. 8 pick in the 2011 NFL Draft, Locker retired in March after playing in seven games in each of the previous two seasons.
The best-selling player jersey in Florida belonged to Tampa Bay Buccaneers running back Doug Martin. He’ll be back with the Bucs in 2015. But after rushing for 1,454 yards as a rookie in 2012, Martin has played in 17 games with 950 rushing yards over the past two seasons.
It appears fans in Tennessee and Florida are making changes for the 2015 NFL season. According to Dick’s Jersey Report, in the past 30 days the jerseys of Marcus Mariota and Jameis Winston rank seventh and ninth, respectively, among all players in the NFL. In the 2015 NFL Draft, Winston, the 2013 Heisman Trophy winner who was a prep star at Hueytown High School, was taken with the No. 1 pick by Tampa Bay and Mariota, the 2014 Heisman Trophy winner, was taken with the No. 2 pick by Tennessee.

Cam Newton, who won the 2010 Heisman Trophy while playing for Auburn, had the top-selling jersey in North Carolina and South Carolina – not a surprise since he’s the quarterback for the Carolina Panthers. But Newton also had the top-selling jersey in Hawaii.
